What if Kibble Didn't Exist?

Image
What would you prepare for your Dog if Kibble had never been invented?  If kibble never existed and we were prepering food for our Dogs, What are the basics a dogs need? Im really excited about this! Its actually quite simple... A raw or lightly cooked diet with quality meats, veggies, eggs, organ meats, and bones (whole, ground or gound bone meal) can give dogs everything they need, if you're up for prepping your Dogs meals daily.  To make sure they have taurine in their diet, which is essential for digestion and reducing anxiety give them plenty of heart meat as it's loaded with taurine. Beef heart, chicken heart, or turkey heart would be my top 3 and you can find them in some supermarkets or ask your local Butchers. Other essential things include protein from muscle meats and organs, calcium from bones or ground eggshell, omega-3 fatty acids from fish or fish oil, and a good mix of vitamins and minerals from organ meats and vegetables. I'd also add a little fiber from ve...

Get your dogs ready for summer

How to Keep Your Dog Cool and Be Ready For Summer As we hit this heat wave, it reminds us to be prepared for our dogs in the heat. Our Pups need just as much care to stay safe and comfortable as we do. Here’s how to get your Dog ready for summer and keep them happy while temperatures soar. Dogs don’t sweat like we do. They mainly cool down through panting and the pads on their paws, which makes them more vulnerable to overheating. Watch out for excessive panting, drooling, bright red gums, or slowing down on walks. These are early warning signs that your dog is struggling in the heat and some breeds suffer more, especially the non shedding Dogs! Just this weekend I've seen dogs out when it is too hot for them to be walked and the dogs are sitting down and refusing to move, they have no other way to tell you "Take me home, let me chill out". At home - Cooling Mats! One of the best things to have is a cooling mat. These mats stay noticeably cooler than the floor and give yo...

Natural ways to soothe an itchy dog through diet

Image
If your dog is constantly scratching their diet might be the key. Natural ways to soothe itchy skin start from the inside out. Add fatty fish like salmon or sardines for omega-3s – they’re brilliant at reducing inflammation. I buy tinned Sardines in either olive oil or Tomato sauce from the supermarket and just dump them ontop of the Cold Pressed Pellets once a week but of course you can buy them online here  12 Cans of Sardines in Olive Oil Sweet potatoes, blueberries, and pumpkin are packed with antioxidants that support skin health too. If you follow my blog you know i consider Pumpkin Magical Stuff either  Pureed in a can or Pumpkin Powder  we use everyday! Collagen Powder  is a game-changer for itchy dogs. It helps repair the skin barrier and supports joint health at the same time. Powder is better than liquid because it’s easier to measure accurately, has no added fillers or sugars, and mixes straight into food without changing the taste. Our Labra...

Human Foods For Dogs - Safe and Nutritious for your dogs bowl ๐Ÿถ

Image
Human foods for dogs Healthy Human Food Toppers for Your Dog’s Kibble or Cold-Pressed Meals We all love to treat our dogs and It makes us all sad to think that some dogs may eat the same bowl of kibble everyday so a sprinkle of safe, fresh human foods on top add variety, extra nutrients, hydration, and excitement without turning mealtime into a full home-cooked adventure (for those who dont want to cook or prepare). We all appreciate the convenience of pre prepared dog food, just make sure the base of the meal is a high quality cold pressed or very high quality Kibble. It must contain Taurine amongst other essential nutrients, we feed  Wilsons Cold Pressed  or  Wellness Core Kibble  both containing brilliant ingredients and Taurine essential for digestion and has many other benefits. Ideally introduce one new topper at a time, watch for any tummy upset, and check with your vet first if your dog has allergies but side effects to these toppers im suggesting are rare. T...

Dog Eating Grass - Quick Fix

Image
Why Dogs Munch Grass (And How to Curb It with Smart Supplements) So why do they do it? Most vets say it's not about making themselves vommit, that's an old myth. They eat grass for pretty normal reasons, they are more intune with their bodies than we think! ๐ŸพThe main reason is a Fiber fix. Their diet or just basic kibble might be low on roughage, so grass fills the gap. Especially new new spring grown, fresh stuff! ๐ŸพGut tweak. A little indigestion or reflux, grass can act like a natural antacid. ๐ŸพBoredom or instinct. Pups explore with their mouths—grass is just...always available! If it's constant or they're puking a lot (more than just bile) then chat with your vet as it could be diet gaps or something bigger. But if it's just casual grazing then supplements can help cut it back by boosting fiber and gut health. Try these fixers: Pumpkin Puree  (plain, canned). Add a few spoonfuls to meals for easy fiber. Tastes good, settles stomachs. Its Magic stuf...

Magical Stuff! Should your dogs have any digestive issues then adding pumpkin puree to your dogs daily or weekly diet helps them with many issues like diarrhea and/or constipation due to its fiber.  Magical Stuff! If your dog is overweight then pumpkin puree aids in weight management because it promotes fullness for more hours (stops dog begging and you over feeding). Pumpkin is not just for dogs with issues, It is a fantastic addition to your dogs regular diet as it provides essential vitamins (A, C, E) and minerals (potassium, iron) for immune, skin, eye, and muscle health. It is low in calories and also hydrating. Pureed is best as it is much more easily digested if you are preparing the pumpkin yourself. Pumpkin is a low-calorie addition that supports overall well-being and is often recommended by vets for mild stomach upsets. Rice and chicken is no longer reccomended as dogs should have ZERO grains in their diet, the majority of demosticated dogs have intolerance t...
